About The Schmidt Table
Hi there, I'm Angela. I've spent years in the classroom, but my true happy place has always been the kitchen. As a home cook and mom to three amazing girls, I've found that cooking isn't just about feeding my family; it's how I show love, connect, and stay grounded amidst life's beautiful chaos. My girls, bless their hearts, still prefer my home cooking over any restaurant, and that's the highest compliment a mom can get!
Some of my fondest memories are from the weeks I spent with my grandmother in Illinois. We'd cook together constantly—simple, familiar recipes that filled her kitchen with warmth and laughter. Standing side by side, I learned so much without even realizing it, and those experiences truly shaped the cook I am today.
Life, as we all know, can be a mix of joy and heartbreak. This past year brought its share of challenges, and I found solace and a sense of peace in the rhythm of cooking. It felt like coming home, like being back in my grandmother's kitchen, where everything just made sense. My daughters, seeing how much these recipes mean to us, encouraged me to share them, and that's how The Schmidt Table came to be.
Here at The Schmidt Table, you'll find the meals we genuinely eat—mostly simple, wholesome food with plenty of room for comfort when it's needed most. But it's more than just recipes; it's about the stories that have shaped us, the quiet joy of gathering around the table, and the belief that every meal is an opportunity to nourish both body and soul. Welcome to our table!
A Seat at The Schmidt Table
Every now and then, I love making room for recipes from this community.
If you have a recipe that means something to you… one you learned from a grandmother, a parent, or someone special… I’d love for you to share it with me. I’ll feature your recipe here on the blog and give you a shoutout, because the best dishes are the ones with a story behind them.
This table has plenty of room.
