Derby Day Bourbon Sliders (Sweet + Smoky Sauce)

Updated: 1 day ago

These Derby Day Bourbon Sliders are fast, crowd-friendly, and loaded with a sweet-smoky bourbon sauce. Perfect for Kentucky Derby parties.

If you're feeding a crowd on Derby Day, these sliders are always a good idea.

They're simple to make, easy to grab between races, and that sweet-smoky bourbon sauce takes them up a notch. The sauce has just enough bourbon flavor without being overpowering, and it pairs perfectly with juicy burgers and melty cheddar cheese.

I love putting these out with chips, beer cheese, and a few Derby drinks and calling it a party.

They're quick, they're filling, and they disappear every single time.

Bourbon beef sliders with cheddar cheese and sweet smoky bourbon sauce served on a wooden board with slider buns and pickles.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef

  • 1 tsp kosher salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 12 slider buns

  • 6 slices cheddar (optional)

  • 1/3 cup bourbon

  • 1/3 cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire

  • 1 tsp Dijon

Instructions

  1. Form 12 small patties; season with salt and pepper.

  2. Sear patties 2–3 minutes per side; add cheese if using.

  3. Simmer bourbon 2 minutes; stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire, Dijon; simmer 5 minutes.

  4. Brush sauce on buns and patties; serve warm.

Kentucky Tip

Make the sauce ahead—flavor improves after a few hours in the fridge.

Let's get cooking!
