Kentucky Beer Cheese (Quick Dip for Pretzels)

A Kentucky classic: sharp cheddar, a splash of beer, and a little heat—ready in minutes.

If you've spent any time in Kentucky, you've probably had beer cheese at least once. It's one of those things that shows up everywhere... restaurants, game days, tailgates, and family gatherings.

This version keeps it simple. Sharp cheddar, a splash of beer, a little kick from cayenne, and just a few minutes in the blender. It's creamy, cheesy, and perfect for dipping warm pretzels, crackers, or fresh veggies.

It's one of those easy appetizers that disappears fast every single time I make it.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz sharp cheddar, shredded

  • 4 oz cream cheese

  • 1/4 cup beer

  • 1 tsp Dijon

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne (to taste)

  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Blend cream cheese, beer, Dijon, garlic powder, cayenne until smooth.

  2. Fold in cheddar; chill 30 minutes for best texture.

  3. Serve with pretzels, celery, or crackers.

Kentucky Tip

Use a lighter beer for a milder dip; add more cayenne for heat.

Let's get cooking!
