I've never been much of a breakfast person.

Most mornings, I'd grab a cup of coffee and call it good. But this summer, I've been trying to get more protein into my day, and these shakes have made it easy.

This Chocolate Cherry Almond Shake is one of my favorites. It tastes like a chocolate-covered cherry, but it's made with simple ingredients that actually keep me full.

It's rich, creamy, just a little tart from the cherries, and comes together in less than five minutes.

If you're looking for a quick breakfast, an afternoon pick-me-up, or something to satisfy your sweet tooth, this shake is worth trying.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Ready in 5 minutes.

  • Rich, creamy, and chocolatey.

  • Packed with protein.

  • Naturally sweet from frozen cherries.

  • Tastes like dessert but makes a great breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Before you start, gather these simple ingredients.

  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (Fit Fuel or your favorite chocolate protein powder)

  • 1 cup frozen dark cherries

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond or oat milk

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

  • 1 teaspoon cacao powder

  • Ice (as needed for thickness)

How to Make a Chocolate Cherry Almond Shake

1. Add everything to the blender.

Combine the protein powder, frozen cherries, almond milk, almond butter, cacao powder, and a handful of ice.

2. Blend.

Blend until smooth, creamy, and thick.

3. Adjust.

If you'd like it thicker, add a little more ice. If it's too thick, add a splash of almond milk.

4. Enjoy.

Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy right away.

Make It Your Own

  • Swap almond milk for oat or cashew milk.

  • Use peanut butter instead of almond butter.

  • Add a little extra frozen cherries if you like it sweeter.

  • Toss in a handful of spinach for an easy boost of greens.

  • Add a sprinkle of dark chocolate shavings on top for a treat.

A Few Questions You Might Have

Can I use fresh cherries?

Frozen cherries give the shake its thick, creamy texture, but fresh cherries work too. Just add a little extra ice.

Can I use a different protein powder?

Absolutely. I use Chocolate Fit Fuel, but any chocolate protein powder you enjoy will work.

Can I make it ahead?

It's best right after blending, but you can refrigerate it for a few hours if needed. Just give it a good shake or stir before drinking.

A Few Final Thoughts

This is one of those shakes I find myself making over and over again. It's quick, filling, and tastes like a treat without feeling heavy.

Whether you're trying to add more protein to your day or just need a simple breakfast that doesn't take much effort, this one checks all the boxes.

If you make it, I'd love to hear what you think or how you made it your own. Leave a comment below and let me know!
